The Southampton Christmas Festival takes place on Above Bar pedestrian precinct and Bargate Street from Thursday 15th November - Sunday 23rd December 2018.
This is a traditional German market operated by internationally renowned WELA Märkte.
Featuring totally unique, individually designed alpine chalets with traditional German fayre, from bratwurst and waffles to gingerbread hearts and candied fruit.
The market includes over 40 independent stallholders offering a range of hand-made, authentic gifts including wooden toys, clothing, jewellery as well as Christmas decorations.
Highlights
The Southampton Christmas Festival features daily entertainment by a Bavarian musician with traditional Christmas music, carol singers and schoolchildren. In addition to the market and the musical entertainment, one of the highlights is the ‘Flying Santa’ show, which is unique in the UK.
The Flying Santa Show - Santa and his reindeers fly above the market twice a day.
Mon - Sat at 5pm and 7pm
Sun at 4pm and 6pm
After each of his performances he will visit the market and give sweets to all children at the huge Advent Calendar. (provided they have been good!).The Bargate monument will be illiuminated in different colours.
Chalets are open 10am to 8pm daily, with the bars staying open for a further two hours in the evening, until 10pm.

Coach Parking
Drop off point: The dedicated coach drop off point is in Castle Way. Coaches will travel south down Castle Way and drop passengers off in the bus stop opposite the Old Town Walls.
Pick up point: Coaches will travel north up Castle Way to pick up passengers on the opposite side of the drop off point.
Coach parking: The coaches will park and wait in Herbert Walker Avenue.
